William Hill: World Darts Championship

The PDC World Darts Championship will see some of the best darts players in the world face off in the Alexandra Palace. For some, this is the biggest Christmas party of the year. Starting on the 13th of December there are 96 contestants going head to head for a chance to win the £500,000 jackpot. This year we will see two female contestants with Mikuru Suzuki and Fallon Sherrock. This may be the last chance to see Raymond van Barneveld compete as he has announced his retirement after the championship. Here are some of the favourites on William Hill:

Michael van Gerwen

The favourite for this year and last years winner. He has shown the high standard he sets throughout the season. Even voicing his displeasure at losing the bonus prize money for hitting a 9 dart finish on live TV a couple of weeks ago. Van Gerwen will have his eyes set on a tournament victory but also that £100,000 prize money which has been set for two 9 dart finishes during the world championships.

Evidently we think van Gerwen will be focusing on getting that prize money and he is enhanced on William Hill from 4/1 to 5/1 for a single 9 dart finish. Michael van Gerwen is 5/4 to win the tournament outright. Van Gerwen to hit over 50 tournament 180s is also 11/10 on William Hill.

Gerwyn Price

The second favourite player in the tournament. He has had a very good year and ended a 19 game losing streak against van Gerwen just last month. The rivalry is being hyped up with both these players being suggested to reach the final. The “Iceman” has won some crowds over towards the latter ends of the season. He toned down his on-stage antics as he claimed the boos from the crowd were getting the better of him. He has since started to receive greater support at the live events.

Gerwyn Price is 5/1 to win the world darts championship. If you think he will reach the final you can get him at 2/1 here on William Hill.

Rob Cross

A previous PDC World Championship winner Rob Cross won’t be too far away. He has had a solid year winning the World Matchplay and European Championship. He is an outsider to come away with a victory at 16/1. Cross has the potential to go all the way and has done it before. We feel that the best option is to back him to win the 3rd quarter which has been enhanced from 11/4 to 7/2 on William Hill.

If you’re looking for a nice return on a bit of an outsider we would recommend taking a punt on Rob Cross.

Nathan Aspinall

A newcomer on the circuit last year. Nathan Aspinall shocked crowds and punters alike when he went on a run that took him through to the semi-finals. He has proven he belongs among the top this year by winning the UK Open and the US Darts Masters. If he has a good run he has a good chance to take home the trophy.

Aspinall is our outsider tip at 40/1 to win outright. He is 18/1 to reach the final. A good bet is to take the enhanced William Hill odds for Aspinall to win the 2nd quarter at 6/1.
